DIVING CLUB
is a conceptual project, won the second prize at the 38th Zagreb Salon of Architecture for Diving Club Concept/selector Stefano Boeri in 2002.
CONTEXT
The location was initially planned to be in Zagreb, at Salata, but the Diving club is a project which can be easily imagined at any location on the planet.
CONCEPT
Would you like to dive and fly simultaneously? The Diving Club is a water-full sphere made of stratified glass, a material often used for aquariums. When diving inside, people can watch birds, clouds, the city… When it is seen from the outside, the image is inverted. That is an idea that is currently ahead of the technology in Croatia. The prejudices about material, form, content, function… are broken, there are no lies, the transparency is veracious and logical. The project is of typology: it infers a certain degree of leisure, rebelliousness, acceptance, … onto potential locations.
CURIOSITIES
The project was presented for the first time at the 38th Zagreb Salon of Architecture in 2003 (among the other 7 projects).
