The swimming pool is a public architectural-urban competition for the indoor swimming pool in Kutina, won second prize.
CONTEXT
The city of Kutina has been planning to build an indoor pool for many years. The construction of the indoor pool will complete the planned zone of sports and recreation, which includes the “Sports Center”, a complex of football fields and tennis courts.
CONCEPT
The pool complex is conceived as a pure geometric form that at the same time has an exceptional landscape character and fits harmoniously into the central social and recreational zone of the city. The pool extends longitudinally along the completely transparent and glazed eastern facade – a triangle, and provides users a sensational view of the local landscape. The rigid geometry was broken by the opening of the house structure into the organically shaped exteriors of the roof terrace and the maximally protected pool terrace.
The construction of the pool hall ceiling is wooden. The roof is a passable sloping surface covered with a layer of humus – a green roof, and the sun deck and roof terrace are designed as wooden decks.
CURIOSITIES
The green roof slope falls to the south and touches the ground level turning into a city meadow – a sun deck, or sledding toboggan during the winter. The roof thus becomes a high-value public space with numerous recreational and social functions, which is an advantage because the pool is located near the high school complex and the commercial center of Kutina.
